American Water Works gets Nods from Barron's and DailyFinance

NYSE:AWKAmerican Water Works Co., Inc. (NYSE:AWK) shares are up 14% in the last 3 months, today closing up 2.78% at $22.56.  The stock was profiled today on AOL's DailyFinance and last weekend it got the thumbs up from Barron's.

AWK has managed to buck the trend of the falling market, which is why everyone is quick to jump on board.  The Masters are also warming up the stock which is now trading just 5% away from its 52-week high, its on a roll.

American Water Works Co., Inc. is headquartered in Voorhees, NJ, they are the largest investor-owned water and wastewater utility company in the U.S. and employ more than 7,000 people.  The company has been around forever, founded in 1886 as the American Water Works & Guarantee Company, American Water has been serving customers and communities for more than 121 years. 

Over the past 12 months American Water Works Co Inc (AWK) shares have traded between $18.91 and its 52-week high of $23.77.  American Water shares are now trading with a P/E Ratio of 16.6 and EPS of 1.33.

Barron's said American Water "with its enticing 4% dividend yield, should slake your thirst for growth and income."

Gene Marcial at AOL's DailyFinance noted that "Management raised its earnings guidance for 2010 to $1.42-$1.52 a share from its previous $1.33-$1.40, based on a solid second quarter results. So Walter Liptak, analyst at Barrington Research, raised his 2010 profit forecast to $1.50 a share from $1.39, and also boosted his 2011 estimate to $1.65 from $1.59. Rating the stock as outperform, he sees the stock rising to $25 in 12 months.
