Dumbest Business Moments of 2010 (The Kardashian Credit Card)
Money.Com put together a list of the 2010 Dumbest Business Moments. Some good stuff, check it out:
The Kardashian sisters have become their own empire of opulence, flashing skin and money wherever they go, but their most recent business venture may have been ill-fated from the beginning. The debit card was rolled out with a fancy launch party at Pacha NYC on November 9. By November 26, Connecticut attorney general Richard Blumenthal stepped in and wrote a letter demanding that the card be laid to rest.
The piece of plastic, which shows the sisters on its face and places the lucky cardholder's name directly across Kim's breasts, had a price tag of $100 for usage, plus a $7.95 monthly fee after the first year. In addition, swiping it at an ATM cost $1.50, a balance check cost an additional dollar, a customer service call came with a $1.50 fee, and replacing a lost card cost $10.
"The Kardashian Kard is particularly troubling," wrote Blumenthal, "because of its high fees combined with its appeal to financially unsophisticated young adult Kardashian fans." Sorry, tweenies.
