Q&A with Finviz.com
Happy Saturday fellow Masters. You may have noticed we've been using charts and stats from a site called Finviz.com lately.
I had a chance to talk with Ivan Klimo, Finviz Product Manager and bounced a few questions off him. Check out our Q&A session with www.finviz.com.
1. First off, great site and one-stop shopping for someone checking out securities before they decide to buy and sell, what was the inspiration for the site?
The site development started due to our internal needs for online stock screener that would provide rich information output and optimal navigation. After finishing the screener we got plenty of other ideas on how to improve the analytical processes used by stock traders on daily basis and decided to implement them into a market research portal.
2. There are a ton of financial sites that provide similar information, what does
Finviz.com have that the other websites don't have?
The FINVIZ.com portal has been built on the following key concepts: quantity and quality of stock data, efficient and ergonomic navigation, useful tools, features and analyses. While there are many great stock market sites out there, none of them integrates all of the above concepts in the way we believe is possible.
2.5 Coke or Pepsi?
How about old school RC Cola.
3. Your Map feature is one of a kind, how did you do it and why should investors
pay attention to it?
The goal of the maps is to provide a quick overview of what's happening on the market. Furthermore, the maps offer a fast navigation through large amounts of stock data and unique perspective on various inner market relations that are not visible in common spreadsheets. Finally, they also visualize additional information such as fundamental ratios, analysts' ratings and relative trading volume.
4. What we expect from your site in the months ahead, any plans to add new technology or link up with other websites?
The site will offer continuous improvements in all key areas such as data, navigation and features. We are still in an early phase of the development.
5. Finally and most important, if you have a chance to punch Jar-Jar binks in the face, would you do it and what would you say to him?
This is a financial website, right?
