Will Evergreen Solar (ESLR) ever recover?
Page 2
2) Another reason short term investors have bailed is that Evergreen
will most likely not be profitable by 2008. So don't go running out
to bet on the next earnings call just yet. If you're going to invest in Solar,
you have to be prepared for the long term.
3) They've been signing million dollar contracts like nobody's business.
This year alone:
- Feb: $88 Million contract with Global
Resource Options
- March: $125 Million contract with Donaheur
Solartecknik
- July: $200 Million contract with SunEdison
LLC
- October: $100 Million sales agreement
with Mainstream Energy, LLC
Along with contracts they received last year, the contract values that
they have total $700 million which will be disbursed over the next 5
years. Yeah baby, that's close to a Billion dollars. Don't be
surprised if you see more contracts coming in soon, and they are working
on a second Ever-Q facility to provide more infrastructure and manufacturing
capacity.
4) They have the chance to be one of the major players in the solar
industry, and Green is good.
However
Evergreen still needs to become profitable, like SunPower (SPWR)
and Suntech Power Holdings (STP).
Solar power is fueled by our sun (which is still free for now) and as
the technology has shown, it can be used for more than solar powered
calculators. Solar energy has the potential to become a very rich and
powerful industry. For years solar enthusiasts have been telling us
the time is at hand, but it needs the support of our government to truly
succeed.
There are risks associated with investing in Evergreen Solar, but they
have an overwhelming chance to recover. Unless, of course, the Robots
building the Solar Panels at the Ever-Q facility rise up and overpower
the humans. We
might think that since the Evergreen Solar Robots are powered by Solar
Panels that nuking the sun and scorching the earth would save us. At
that point we would probably burrow to the center of the Earth - my
guess is we would name the city Zion. However the Robots could figure
out how to harvest human energy instead, and create a software program
to think we're living on Earth.
But I won't hold my breath on that.
